From 1990 until
present, I have enjoyed an artistic approach to painting
a variety of subjects in
watercolour and acrylic.
I have found it challenging,
rewarding,
and exciting to see a painting evolve
from start to finish.
I stress evolve, because I strive
to suggest the source of my reference material,
but use my own palette, style and techniques to convey my
interpretation.
When in my studio, my excitement
is fuelled by the experimental layering of glazes, coupled with a
whimsical approach
to painting subjects from travel
and daily life.
The more that I am involved in my
painting, the more I discover ways to convey
my ideas and feelings about my subject.
Creativity is a
dominant component,
followed by the use of muted to vibrant colour,
by wonky approaches to shape and
design, and by the suggestion of subject.
Most importantly, I hope my
paintings suggest that the artist certainly
enjoys painting.
